Forerunners Future Podcast

I'm not sure how many of you guys are into the whole personal media thing. But I thought I might start making a podcast to highlight some of the activity here on the blog. Please let me know what you think, and get involved. I really think that conversations that contributors of the blog have could be recorded and then podcasted out. Maybe sharing snips of new music your into with your expert commentary, or maybe for you musicians, any new creations that you could roughly record and share with the rest of us. Or you could simply sneak your mp3 player/recorder into a service sometimes and podcast the "worst sermon that you have ever heard in your life". (O.K. maybe that's not a great idea.)

Wireless Discipleship

I have always been uneasy with the lecture style church of the modern era. The type where one person knows everything and tells everybody what to do to be a successful Christian. You all know what I speak of. While I think community is one style of discipleship that we all want and believe in, it is also one that not many people are ready to give themselves fully to. We are trying to create a space at Life Fellowship where community is more common and easily accesible, even the community of the world wide web. We have begun the process of outfitting our whole church with wireless internet. Know I now that we are not the only church with wireless, but it seems like people in our church have never heard of any, and certainly never heard of any that encourage them to use the internet during service. "Bring your laptop, or check out one of ours if you dont have one of your own" is what we are telling people. "We want you all to be a part of our conversation and learn from each other. We are meeting at ezboards.com". We have a place to chat about the topic being discussed or a place to read the bible in whatever version you prefer and much more. Discussion and experience have always been the most efficient tools for learning. We hope this will bring a new experience to church and a new discussion to the learning. I am sure that you have all thought about the possible horror stories that could surface. What do we say to that. Well, your right. I am sure someone will go somewhere they are not supposed to. We hope that people will choose not to do that though. If they do hopefully we will be Christ like enough to say, "go and sin no more".

Who is God picking for Superbowl XXXIX?

TO media day

There is still time for some of you guys to pray really hard and get a good line on this weekends game. I read this week in Jeremiah 48:40, "Thus saith the LORD, 'Behold He shall fly like an eagle." That was enough for me. Then T.O. comes out yesterday and makes his announcement. My mind is made up: Eagles by 7 (the difference will be 1 T.O. touchdown reception!)

Time's piece on Evangelicals is very interesting. Some of the recent swirl from this article has also been interesting. For interest to our discussions here on Forerunners, both McLaren and Colson are in the time list. (Although McLaren seems to resent the fact that he is lumped with the rest of them).

Even more worth a scan is the transcript from Larry King Live last night, where Larry had as his guests the LaHayes, Franklin Graham, T.D. Jakes, and McLaren. If I was scoring the participants in the discussion, I, personally, would have to declare Jakes the winner. (McLaren doesn't really fit with that group anyway, and all of his answers evidenced that.) Jakes seemed to be unshakable positive and I for one dig that.
What does all of this mass exposure tell you about the way people in our society see Christianity? Do they people in my neighborhood know the difference between a "conservative evangelical" and a "emergent disciple"? I'll go on record as saying that I think that there it is a good idea getting people like the Lahayes on TV. The more stories CNN and MSNBC can run about "right-wingers" the better. Can you guess why I think so?
